Welcome to Pick Emergency. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

About This Site

Pick Emergency covers emergency preparedness and disaster supplies for regular households: weather radios, portable power for outages, shelf-stable food, personal water filters and ready-packed go-bags. Everything here is written from the point of view of someone who keeps these things in a hall closet, not someone selling fear.

Emergency Safety

Nothing on this site replaces instructions from local officials. If you are told to evacuate, leave. Keep a battery or crank radio and follow your county emergency management office and the National Weather Service during severe weather.

Never run a gas generator, camp stove, grill or propane heater indoors, in a garage or near an open window. Carbon monoxide has no smell and can kill within minutes. Keep generators outside and well away from the house, and use working carbon monoxide alarms.

Personal water filters do not remove viruses, chemicals, fuel or salt, and floodwater can carry all of them. Follow any boil water notice exactly as issued. Never walk or drive through moving floodwater, and stay away from downed power lines.

Portable power stations have output limits and are not whole house backups. Anyone who depends on powered medical equipment should make a plan with their doctor and utility ahead of time. Check the dates on stored food, water and first aid supplies, and read the instructions that come with every product.

Accuracy

We update product information periodically, but prices, formulations, packaging, and availability change without notice. Always confirm current details on the product's Amazon page before purchasing.
